In the material of zinc oxide arresters, "high polymer silicone rubber" is used. Compared with porcelain arresters under the same conditions, the flashover voltage is more than 2 times that of porcelain. Therefore, integrated composite zinc oxide arresters have become mainstream products and are widely used in international power systems. They are vulcanized from silicone rubber with flame retardants, anti-aging agents and coupling agents under high temperature and high pressure. Product types are divided into YH5WS (distribution type arrester), YH5WZ (station type arrester), YH5WR (capacitor type), YH5CS (series gap), YH1.5W (neutral point type), YH5WX (line type arrester), produced using one-time molding technology, which is the current world-leading arrester manufacturing production technology.
The zinc oxide arrester uses high-quality zinc oxide varistors internally. Utilizing the excellent nonlinear volt-ampere characteristics of zinc oxide, under normal operating voltage, the current through the arrester is only a few microamperes or milliamperes. When overvoltage acts, the resistance drops sharply, releasing overvoltage energy to achieve protection. The difference between zinc oxide arresters and traditional arresters is that they have no discharge gap, cleverly using the nonlinear characteristics of zinc oxide to achieve current discharge and interruption functions.
